Has anyone ever tried to use the seperate tabs-method?
This way the tabs are inside both parts and the edges and surface align better...

This is the method used on all the airliners designed by Edwin Rodrigeuz (Hermercraft.

Isaac,

You're off to a great start on the fuselage.

Have a safe trip home.

I agree. There is something beautiful with the looks of this trijet.

Had many flights as a passenger including a private company plane.

Gary

Due to the rainy season here, all the building of this model had to be done inside the RV. Small quarters. So progress is slow.

Departing back on Saturday.

This was a long duration trip.

Exclamation Fuselage rear

The rear section of the fuselage houses the center engine of this Trijet.

Later on the tail and inlet will be installed.

If one is inclined, you can scratch build the rear stairs as well. I will not do it.

Simple cones. At least the tabs are in the orientation I like.

This is the last posting for now until I continue the build at home.

I am home finally.

I re started the build. It is going really badly as I tried to join the fuselage and specifically the lower belly. It does not fit well and not having any instructions, it is becoming a frustrating guessing game. The result were really bad and for all intents and purposes, this will not continue as a detailed build due to my frustration.

I am still dabbling with this build, but at this point it is just an exercise in futility.

Sorry to hear Isaac, the shape of the nose really looked very much B727 and you were off to a good start. Didn't notice your thread before, so it's water under the bridge but indeed, the location of the tabs is weird. Should be the other way around, at the larger parts as this makes gluing mating sections so much easier. And even better, a loose string of tabs to be glued on the inside to get smooth joints between the various fuselage sections.
As far as I remember I only flew once in a B727, in the US on a flight from St. Louis to New York in 1990. Getting old .

In any case, my humble advice would be, put the model aside and start something new. How about GPM's IAF F16D. A double-seater and something a bit out of the ordinary.

Cheers,
Erik
