NIEUPORT 17 french ace René Dorme 1:100

There's no denying that the 1/100 scale has its fans. I'm more of a fan of the 1/66 scale (which I find already small), so I couldn't resist designing a model in this 1/100 scale to make up my own mind.

I chose the Nieuport 17 by French ace René Dorme, which I know well from having designed it in 1:66 scale. A biplane with a partially visible engine, it presents a number of particularly interesting challenges.
I'm offering you a free download of the model on my website, along with my comments on this scale, which has a lot of attractions, especially for those who don't have enough space!

Regards

The Nieuport looks fantastic. At 1/100, that's unbelievable.

Thank you for the kit!

I'm not a specialist in that scale. Although my designs can be erected as presented (as shown in the photos), I'm sure that some parts could have been made simpler without affecting the final look of the model.
Any comments on this matter are welcome, and I'll be sure to take them into consideration for any future model at this scale.
Many thanks and much pleasure to those who will build this legendary Nieuport.

What a gem!

I can definitely see the advantage of 1/100 scale as far as saving space but I prefer 1/33 just because of the sheer amount of detail that can be designed into a larger model.

Still, you have certainly captured the essence of that Nieuport 17 with your creation!

Thank you all for your comments.
It's true that the royal scale for aircraft is 1/33. There's no doubt about that.
At 1/33 (I'm speaking from experience, having drawn a number of models at this scale, as you can see on my site), the study, the drawing, the elaboration of a Beta version to validate the imagined solutions, the coloring and finally the realization of the files and the instructions take an enormous amount of time and it's difficult to maintain the same level of enthusiasm during all this time....and all the more so as other models I'd also like to create are appearing....and I'm not young anymore!
My tendency now, concerning this scale, is to build other designer's models, restricting myself to French aircraft models when one comes out (of high quality, of course).
But I think that 1/66 (half of 1/33) has certain advantages, in particular being able to accommodate a large number of different-sized aircraft on a shelf of reasonable depth, not to mention a reasonably short design time (around 150 hours). Of course, you can go faster, but I hate unfinished, not to say botched, work. Always choose quality over quantity.

Thank you for this little beauty. I think it will be a little challenge for me but that is half the fun. My scale preferences for biplanes are typically 1/50 and 1/33, but I have built one of your planes and the 1/66 scale is a good scale as well.

Just to say this is another good criquet's paper model and nice experimentation at this 1:100 scale. It's possible to build the engine without it being too great a feat. So, i think other existing planes paper models could also have this level of detail, which would make them more attractive and realistic. This is only my point of view.
