Potez viii first touring plane 1:66 free
With its two tandem seats, the Potez VIII, christened "Zizi", was the world's first touring plane designed as such. The aircraft was a 100% Potez production, including the engine. With the engine positioned vertically, it drove the propeller via a 90° angle drive. Only the prototype was so equipped. For reasons of reliability, the engine was soon replaced by more conventional rotary or star engines. The Potez VIII was produced in several versions: two-seater, tandem or side-by-side, with conventional landing gear, seaplane and even glider. The aircraft made its maiden flight on June 9, 1920. In all, some thirty aircraft were built. The model I'm showing you is the prototype. It is at 1:66 scale. Free download on my website criquetaero.fr. thank you for your interest in my creations. |

Thank you for your comments. I'm always amazed at the number of aircraft created in the 30s that either remained at the prototype stage or were never developed further. It's a real pleasure to bring them back to life through paper models and to share their history.

What a gem! Almost toy-like in appearance. Thanks again Le Criquet!
