Being a biplane it likely didn't need any kind of assisted launching provided the carrier was steaming into the wind as per normal launching practice. Those wings would be generating lift very soon after starting the roll.

Catapults were not used much before the jet age, in fact it was the need to achieve higher launch speeds for jets that made them necessary. Even in the Korean War almost all combat types were still piston engined (Corsairs, Skyraiders, Seafires, Fireflies) and would take off on engine power alone.
It does look odd to see a flying boat wheels down coming in for landing on a carrier deck.

Yes, Péricles is thinking about the Walrus, that was the older brother of the Sea Otter and was frequently launched from catapults.
But the catapults were used by Cruisers and Battleships, not Carriers. Here is a picture of a Walrus launched from the HMNZS Achilles and a picture of my model of the HMS Belfast 1/700 scale.
The easier way to diferentiate the Sea Otter vs the Walrus is the engine: the Walrus has the propeller in the rear.

I was thinking about the catapult sugestion from gomidefilho, and saw the pictures of the Walrus. There are few differences between it and the Sea Otter, so it's possible that I will be doing it in May or Juny this year (including the catapult).
So far the differences are the engine,central upper wing, supports of the horizontal stabilizer, floats supports and underside of the fuselage.
Meanwhile I have printed the remaining parts of the engine and detailed two more profiles of the Sea Otter.
This profiles are the first step to the full design of the paint schemes, so they are a great help when I'm "painting" them.

This Thursday the HD of my computer crashed and burned, thanks to a voltage drop last week.
Lost a bit of the parts of the Sea Otter but the main problem is that I'll be expending all next week to reconfigure my next HD as necessary for my work.
I was lucky that I had printed the last version of the sheet, so I'll be able to scan it and redraw.

I'm sorry for your loss Alejandro, I recently lost 1 terabyte of work files (recordings of lectures and interviews) due to a smoldering external hard drive, luckily most of the things were in the cloud. Good luck reconfiguring your computer, we look forward to updates.

Due to the damage of my HD, I 'haven't been able to work in the Sea Otter this week.
But I have decided to release two versions of the plane. One is going to have retractable wheels and turning propeller, but won't have folding wings, two position tail wheel or recessed bomb bays.
The other version will be a bit (just a bit) more expensive and have all the whistles and flutes

Good idea, I am considering the same for my kit releases. If somebody wants a simpler model they don't have to pay for parts they have no intention of using.

Now comes test them and if everything goes right, to do the air intakes and interwing struts.
