The toothpicks are indeed a good idea. I don't understand why designers don't incorporate tab-and slot connections of some form into butt joints where the joints are hidden, it would be a much better situation for the builder.

Thanks RM and Siwi! Much appreciated.

Here I got the front and rear fuselage together and I'm starting to fit where the wing and stab will go. Starting to look like a Vimy now.

More soon...Dan

I am following the construction of this model.
So far it looks very promising.

Thank you, YOAV. Means a lot coming from an artist like you.

I got the tail skid on, covered my fuselage joint with a thin strip of green paper and actually got the darn lower wing center section on. And it's straight! Well, straight enough for the girls we date. I think this will give me the standard to add the tails square which will be my next task.

Moving right along!

Dan

Great work Dan! Haven't been checking in for some time.... I must say that the pilot's seat looks a bit like a lounge couch, but I guess that must have been the only bit of comfort in this aircraft. Those crazy men and their funny flying machines of the twenties....

Thank you, Eric and Bob. I can't wait to make the Lewis machine guns!
And yes...I guess these guys had to have some comfort so luxury seating may have been just enough to entice a few hardy souls into this business. I still marvel at Bleriot...

I did more work, got the bottom stabilizer on even with my twisted rear fuselage and then you can see the top stab with rudders and some struts basically in place and square...at least to each other. I will add the center struts later and they will make it all much stronger. I am pleased with how it looks overall and the rigging will help a lot too.

I figured I needed one more push as tomorrow is a holiday in the US so no building! Just eating and spending time with family and friends. To all the US folks out there, Happy Thanksgiving and more Vickers on the weekend.

Ha! Me too. Can you imagine that flight? I guess if that's the norm, you don't know any better but holy cow...what a flight and what amazing pioneers.
