Vickers Vimy Fly Model in 1/33rd

All,

Thanks to Greg Perry taking care of an estate sale, I snagged this lovely beast for a very fair price. It's large and will look amazing when completed. I just decided to do something different and dipped my toe into the kit by starting on the ailerons. Here is one of four complete with control horns.

I'm thinking this will be a long term project.

Thanks for looking,
Dan

And here we go.....

Great start.

Also to everyone else: plenty of aircraft, naval, land going and architectural models left in the estate if you are looking for something to build. More info in my "rjm estate" sale thread.

Be careful, this kit has a rep, so expect errors, omissions and poor fits.

I've seen that model done. It's big and very, very impressive. "Stringbag" doesn't quite cover amount or rigging on it. The only other biplane with more rigging I saw was Sikorsky "Ilia Muromec" WW1 bomber. Good luck!

Thank you! So far, no real fit issues, but I've only done the ailerons. Whoo-hoo...

They are done and ready. I think I'll build the stab/elevator/rudders next. They seem pretty straight forward.

Thanks for looking!

This finishes all the moveable bits. I think I'll either start the props and nacelles or the wheels next. We'll see!

Thanks for looking...Dan

I see you're approaching this like eating an elephant: one bite at a time. Looks good so far.
