I'm new to all this........

Hello all, this is something I never thought I'd be doing again, but following retirement, I felt I needed a new pass time so decided to restart modelling. As plastic kits today are extortionate in price I went for something a little less costly in paper kits. I've only just started but have 3 that I've just finished. 1 a Fiddlers Green Corsair WWII fighter, 2 an EE Lightning from Scissors and Planes, plus 3 an S-58 Helicopter in US Navy colours. I've added extra details them all to improve their looks. I've not done anything like this since my 20's as kids and kits don't mix but now in my mid+ 60's it's great rediscovering old skills

I'd love to do some repaints as well so could use a bit of help from you more experience paper modeller to help me out if possible. I've attached some pics, so please let me know what you think?

Hi Sakrison, thanks for your comments. It all just so much more fiddly to do than a plastic kit, but there's so much more satisfaction in the end result

These are looking very nice indeed, you have got the skills. There are quite a few of us who are convinced that a paper kit can be made just as realistic and detailed as plastic.

My Friend who live opposite me loves plastic kits and has produced some great results but after seeing my paper models, he was gobsmacked when considering how cheap a hobby it is. There's also a much greater choice of model aircraft, ones that would never be made in plastic.

Precisely - and it's also easy enough to make modifications, repaints, design extra parts or even whole new models with a little practice and some free software.

Good beginnings there Ron! Though paper and plastic modeling are poles apart, having ANY previous model building skills are a definite advantage.
As you've already worked out, the choice for paper aircraft models is seemingly endless. Scissors and Planes has literally thousands of 1/100 subjects for the crazy low price of $1 each, while most (if not all) of his 1/300 subjects are downloadable free off this site. If you can master repainting, well the sky truly is the limit.......
Repainters on here use various software to produce their models and using one that is vector gives much superior results. I myself use Photoshop (not vector) which is a licensed and paid for set up, but the similar Inkscape is free.

The aircraft look very nice.

Something that is nice with paper models is you can rescale them to fit whatever display you want.
