My last sheet of K&S Engineering clear PETG plastic sheets was used
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That is the material I use to vacuuform clear canopies for my planes. however.... they no longer carry it and they are not answering their phone. I need an alternate source ( preferably via Amazon ) for sheets that are 0.010 inches thick ( nothing thicker ). I could not find it anywhere in sheets that are either letter or A4 or smaller that is PETG 0.010 inches thick, If someone knows of another clear plastic type that can be vacuuformed and is sold at the 0.010 thick , I appreciate it. Thanks Isaac

Isaac, the smallest thickness I could find on Amazon was 0.040".

I use .020 PETG sheets for vacuforming and plug forming. .020 is easy to find.
I buy it in a roll 20" x 48" and cut to size what I need. And the difference between an .010 canopy and an .020 canopy is pretty small.

Walmart sells .010" clear plastic sheets 8.5" x 11" in packages of 25 for about $27.00. I don't know if they would work for you, but you can check it out on their website. |

The only way to find out is to try it. I vacuformed both of these canopies in 1/33-scale using .020 PETG.

The clear plastic lids on many bakery goods is PETG. Just look for something that has a large (ish) area without unwanted ridges, borders or other such details. Grab a batch of muffins and snag some canopy material at the same time.

I vacuform my canopies as well, with good results. If you want something that works well, look up Acetate sheets. They come in various thicknesses and should be exactly what you're looking for.

It would help me if you include a link on Amazon for the material you are using for clear canopies. There are so many choices, I am not sure if they are good for thermoforming. Looking for the plastic to remain clear after forming. Thanks Isaac

Isaac:
MicroMark in New Jersey has plastic sheets of assorted thicknesses and materials for their vacuuform in their catalogue. One of them might meet your criteria. |
