Kfir C2- Yoav design in 1/30 scale

I am on a jet kick of a certain kind. Mirage 3 and the IAI Kfir.

So far, I have built an old Hobby Model Kfir C2. That kit was really bad and had lots of fit issues, so our friend Yoav has made fixes to that kit and I built it while living in Japan at the time ( about 10 years ago ). Since then, Yoav has designed his own Mirage, Nesher and Kfir series and I am building them all. I built the original Mirage 3 in camo colors, the Silver version repainted by Yaron, the Nesher ( Israeli built Mirage 5 variant ) and the repainted Kfir C7 by Yaron. All my build logs are here :



This particular build here will be Yoav Kfir C2 in grey colors operated by the IAF in the 70's and 80's primarily until replaced by F-16A's


Since this build of the Kfir C2 is identical to the C7 version, my build log will be short.

I will provide links to all those builds next.

Other than the Hobby Model Kfir, all others are Yoav's designs, all are available to download here at our site under cold war aircraft. They are in 1/30 scale, but you can rescale to anything you need.

The plug in the exhaust is for construction purposes to keep it rounded

Here are the built up sections. Note that I added small weights up the nose to keep the plane on all 3 wheels when finished.










Not shown, but When inserting the nose gear housing, the cockpit tub will need trimming since the original design made no provisions for a landing gear.

The front and back sections are joined. I always insert a wooden chop stick section to connect the two for much needed support.

After much tribulations ( difficulties ) since I ran out of the correct plastic for vacuforming, I finally got a few sheets which were thicker than what I normally use and finally succeeded in making two canopies ( I will use one here and the second for a new Mirage 3c ).

Nice work on the fuselage. The canopy looks great too Isaac. I hope that you can get a consistent supply of plastic for vaccumforming.
