1/144 Mig-17 "Fresco"

Three months ago, I posted my last build (22 Oct). Watching everyone post their
"first build of 2024", I vowed to get one done before the end of January.
And I did.

This is the rescaled (1/100 to 1/144) Brent repaint of the SNP Mig-17. A quite enjoyable little build.
Great graphics, and just an ordinary skill level build.

I did add a few greebles along the way. I modified the landing gear struts
to rolled struts, added an antenna, pitot tubes on each wing, cannon barrels, and
speed brake actuator housings. These housing are one of the prominent ID features
to help distinguish the -15 from the -17.

Another beautiful model, Ray!

Wiki (citing Istvan Toperczer, MiG Aces of the Vietnam War, Schiffer Publishing, 2015, pp. 146-147) tells me that 3020 was a " license-made Shenyang J-5 attached to the VPAF's 923rd Fighter Regiment, and was flown by at least two of the six VPAF's MiG-17 fighter aces, including Nguyễn Văn Bảy and Lê Hải; both of whom survived the war, with Lê retiring as a Senior Colonel." It was also the mount of the mythical "Colonel Tomb."

But you already knew that before you built the model, didn't you, Flyboy.

Excellent first-of-the-year build Ray!
Second should be a VF-96 F-4J 'Showtime 100' to shoot it down!

Don, Citer, Garry, Simon, David and Pericles. Thank you for the comments. I am glad the meager little build passes such skilled observation!

Very, VERY late to the party. Another amazing build. Still can't get over all that detail in such a tiny package (again)...nice one, Ray.
