Not much to show but before I leave to celebrate my mom's 90th, here are some cockpit innards installed. I will be using them as basic patterns to make things look more 3-D like radios, junction boxes, stringers and switches. I think I can also use my Monogram 1/48th Me-410 which should give me some ideas as well. I'll also be replacing the instruments with some more realistic copies and simulated glass. My pictures aren't too good but it's hard to get a nice shot... I must say that even though the details are just printed rather crudely onto the paper and are very 2-D, fit is very nice and any real issues are due to me and my rather thick balsa formers. Basically, if this was all you had, the interior would be more than satisfactory for most folks especially under a canopy and frames. I continue to be impressed by this kit and embarrassed that I figured it was an also-ran. More later....Dan

Started making some 3-D in the cockpit. Radio area behind the gunner looks cool. Really will look good after some painting and dry brushing...

Fine work on the threedeeification of the cockpit area.
The Me-210s and 410s were good-looking airplanes, to my eye, and it is most enjoyable watching this one take shape. This paper modeling looks like fun. I must try it one day. Don

Dannit, I was gonna build a computer drawn model next, but now I'm considering a build of Maly's Me-410 (designed by Bohdan Wasiak). Am I a masochist?
We sort of did this before with the Karas. Guess it's time to flip flop publishing houses.... Greg

I've seen your work Don...it's amazing. You just need to retire!! Think of all the time you'd have!  Yes, Greg, this will be fun. I bet you still finish yours before mine. I know you are not going to work on that interior, but here is mine since you gave me a nice vacuform canopy to install. So far, so good. Not 100% accurate but good enough for the girls we date. That's a nicely built up cockpit Dan! The best part of any airplane model. I agree with Don by the way, The Me-410 has a kind of attractive look (if you forget what it was intended for....).

Hi Erik and thanks. I must agree...it is a real looker. Just lucky that it wasn't as effective as it could have been. I also think it would make a nice free flight model with those engines so far forward. The props could be a nice diameter. Maybe someday!!
I finished the interior including the instruments cut out from some Marek instruments from an Me-109 I have. I put a drop of clear window maker from Testors on each to simulate glass. I think it looks ok but next time I'll revert back to making recessed instruments and a clear plastic oreo sandwich. I then did some washes and dry brushing along with some detail painting to bring out some switches. Finally, I made masking tape and fuse wire belts. I still need to make the rear gunner's barbette aiming mechanism (sounds like a line from Austin Powers) but it's basically all done. I also finished the barbettes by adding the tear-drop housing around the guns. I think because I used slightly thick balsa, the original parts were not deep enough so I made copies that were 105% original and that worked fine and doesn't look too dorky. Liking this so far!
