Great job. Filling out the hollow spaces left when control surfaces are seperated can be a bit of a mission!

That's great work on the canopy Dan! I see what you mean with the many corrections you have to make to have smooth joints between the fuselage segments. For a craftsman like you that shouldn't be a problem though !

Thanks you guys! You are two of the masters so we'll see if mine can hold a candle to yours...
I have been working on multiple projects and really missed the Hornet so I started the nacelles expecting the worst. Holy Hannah, but they fit like a glove! I still need to add scoops and the lower rear portion but it looks so much cooler with a nacelle attached. Can't wait for the other one! The design on this kit keeps surprising me in a good way. More soon...Dan |

Tidy. Any issues getting the two engines on firmly and lined up with the wing and each other?

Great job Dan. I'll miss seeing this at our meeting tomorrow as I have a conflict.

Thanks David, Siwi and Bob!
Siwi: I had no issues. I was truly amazed at how well the nacelles fit. The appear straight and true. One of my wings has a tad of wash-in but I was able to coerce the nacelle to look fine. Bob! I shall be missing too. I have to go to work on Saturday. Dang... Did you try your foam on the fish yet? I want to try that technique at some point. More later, Dan |

It's been awhile. Work, work, work. But today I got a bit more done. I basically added the cowl bumps and shutter mechanisms under each chin and the scoops on the left sides of each nacelle. Those looked diabolical, but were very well-designed and fit nicely. I need to tweak them a bit and it will help to do some filling but they even have a slight downward slant as is correct for this beast. Again, the designers nailed this one.
More (hopefully) soon(er)...Dan If I can figure it out, I'd love to bring this one, Don!! |
