yes, very nice indeed!!
you don't need to hide the german and japanese markings. they're just flags, and it's a historical context.

next small steps...
today I install the intercooler doors
afterwoods I assambled the fuselage section part 4 an 5 without gluing to test the fitting oft the part... I think the proper gluing of the fuselage will be a nightmare... We will see ... |

As expected, gluing the fuselage sections was very difficult - I did my best. I made a design error because I forgot a frame in the cockpit section, which made the part very unstable and affected the bonding of the rest of the fuselage. I also think that 160gram paper is too thin for the fuselage.
It would have been better to do a beta build first. I invested a lot of time editing the sheets to create a certain used look for the finished model. I underestimated the model - I will finish building it despite the many errors and try a few test designs - partially separated tailplanes and flaps etc... and then I will try a clean P-47 "Snafu". Funnily enough, the building reminds me of my first Geli 50 years ago. Here are a few pictures of the current construction progress. |

Just wanted to say that your attempt so far is not as bad as you are saying.
Every designer has a different approach, and every model has a different assembly method. This model is based on a Marek design and as such, is a proven design. I will admit, the fuselage does not have perfect alignment...but with care, it assembles nicely. I have many examples sitting on my shelves to prove it. I use 176gsm cardstock (65lb) for all my models. Plenty thick enough. 160gsm would be about 62lb cardstock? which should be fine...or are you using some sort of paper? My method is to assemble the fuselage from the rear, one section at a time. After joining a section, I then fit a former (at the join). I do this all the way along until the nose section. I'm happy to hear that you are not discouraged and will try another model. Have you already purchased War Eagle/Snafu? If not, please contact me (email), and I will gift you the model.
