forward part finished by a nose!

Last for tonight is the forward nose piece. This was kind of a quicky as the piece was finished earlier and just needed fitted to the forward fuselage. The forward part kinda reminds me of the pictures of downed Bettys with the fuselage blown off and laying in a jungle somewhere...

OOOPs forgot the pics!

As above, the forward nose piece was burnished from inside to give a more rounded appearance...

Somehow over the years I have never picked up on the tip to prime pieces with thinned glue. I am definitely going to give it a try. Even using joining tabs, getting parts to grab and stick without me holding them a while (and having things deformed by my darn fingers) has always caused me trouble. Thanks!

Nobi's fwd

Glad to help. Nobi's forward fuselage section was well, straightforward! But with a small exception, which was the method the canopy cockpit section was attached. That section had a few parts that had to be built up then mated to a recess designed into the fuselage section. I'm not sure if it was my lack of ability but this part was a minor PIA. Overall it fit great , my suggestion is to build the canopy section minus the front windshield, attach that built section to the fuselage then fit the front windshield on...

Legos for the win. Nice work, and that also gives a nice representation of scale.

while letting things set up and dry completely the landing gear was tackled next. They are really simple tubes for the main legs and the usual drum shaped wheels were replaced by laminated discs. The Nobi gear is 2 of the tubes joined together by a mounting brace. The wheel sits between the struts. The Bruno gear are joined by the wheel and then the 2 struts will be mounted in holes bored at the after under engine cowling. Tail gear is a simple part folded over the tail wheel. All this distraction, is in prep for the tail sections that appear to be a challenge...

As ever it's an interesting comparison to see each stage of the design. I would not really say that either kit is obviously better or more accurate in part or in whole, just slightly different approaches to creating the same form.
