Dc 8
I love the classical airliners, so I started a model of the DC 8 using the old Veritas DC-8 cardboard model. The model is from the 1950s, but reasonably accurate, and uses the old KLM livery of 1958.
I used the metal-coated paper for the wings and undersides that I buy at the art supplies store, the engines were painted in steel colour. Finally, I took some pictures of how a 1960s passenger would see this airliner fly past from the cabin. |

I also love old time airliners. The DC-8 is a classic example. Veritas version is accurate and deserves the modifications you are doing. What about some photos? Another beautiful and classic airliner of the 50s and 60s is the fantastic Sud Aviation SE210 Caravelle. There are several brands out there printing this airplane including the GELI version, which is, fortunately, still available, the MON, Kranich and the Schreiber which is also readily available and other renditions. The Caravelle was revolutionary by being the first airliner with engines mounted behind the wings. GELI also prints and sells the original Douglas DC9 and the Vickers Viscount.

Wonderful! You captured the DC-8 in its oldest KLM jet airliner livery very well. I still remember the smell of kerosine when watching these great machines from the old Schiphol panorama platforms as a boy in the early seventies, together with my grandfather, who lived in Amstelveen at the time. Always a good Sunday outing! Sweet memories.

Nice resul Scon10,
Where did you find this old Veritas-kit? Or is it the reprint by Scaldis? Interested in this having 'only' the Emsco-version. As well as a private-design... not by me!

I have an original 1960 copy of the DC-8 in scale 1: 65. I copied it and eliminated the yellow colorization of its age with a photo programme. Scaldis has a 1: 50 copy.
