The cockpit

The model also includes a cockpit which I used without modification. But practically it is not possible to look inside. The cockpit is covered by a pressurized cabin. the model does not include it and I completed it according to the photos. The cabin is covered by an external heat shield.

I find the windscreen large enough to get a reasonable view of what is inside. Fine detail, especially regarding the small scale.

Excellent job so far! (Even though the model is long finished….)

Thanks for your feedback and praise. It's not that adventurous, but the advantage of the finished model is that you don't have to wait so long for the next pictures

Landing gear

I originally thought that the landing gear from the model would be sufficient. So I built it, painted it and scrapped it. It seemed to me too simplistic and inconsistent with reality. I decided to build a completely new one from scratch according to the photos. Fortunately, there are many photos on the net where you can see it from all possible angles. I used a variety of materials. Paper of course, then wooden skewers and toothpicks, brass tubes, copper wires and plastic rods. This was followed by painting with modeling paints - titanium, aluminum and gray. The landing gear took the most time and is definitely the most complex part of the model. But I think all the work paid off, and it definitely took the model to a higher level.
The first picture shows the original (unused) landing gear. In some other pictures you can see a comparison of the original and the new.
