Fantastic. My day is better already, having seen many fine works of art like this one, I smile more.

Just to clarify, this is the stencil I use to mark the rivets with the rivet maker. Itīs printed in a normal paper in black and white. I just cut the part, that is exactly like (in this case) the tail part. I put it above the tail part and try to not move it a milimeter. Then I use the ruler and the rivet maker. I do it in almost all parts. I use pictures for reference of the rivets. I donīt put all panels in the real plane. Just those that are seen more in pics.

Starting now with the tail cones and the passenger aft entrance. This will take me some time to test and adjust.

The two (of the four) tail cones where the stairs has to be intalled. I have to cut accurate from the belly. Note the detail of the rivets and typical smoked area of the "diesel nine"

For the first section of the tail cones that includes some windows I would like to test a new technique to to get the better realism with the less work (Iīm getting lacy with years...)
I have built models with complete interior (see picture of the Caravelle). This plane wonīt be one of these as I stated in the beginning. I have built planes with passengers inside that you can see through the windows. This is also realistic (see picture of the SAS dc-9). I build this plane with simple lights. Leds for position and anti collision lights (I will tell you about these anti collision soon) but I added a string of leds inside both sides of the fuselage fixed to the walls in the same place that the real ones in the real plane. The string of leds was also covered by a black tape all along but with little punctures to let a little light exit and reflect into the small head of the every passenger. In the night, the effect was so realistic!! I made it because that is an image that has persisted in my mind since I was just a child and I used to see many times looking at the planes comming to land very low from the beach where I used to spend my holidays in summer time. |

For this dc-9 model I will implement a new "fast" method to get some realism without working too much.
I will cut windows (hardly with my actual eyes...) and put glass as in other models BUT i will fix after the glass (acetate) a piece of the very same section that include the windows draw as seen in the model before cutting the windows. Look at the images and you will see what I mean. I will use this also for the cockpit windows. Last edited by Jesus; 08-17-2024 at 04:26 PM. |

The fuselage. Same that tail cones about rivets and windows.
As always, the model printed over gloss or satin adhesive paper and this one fixed over light grey cartuline. Grey marker in the edges of the windows to hide the white edge of the adhesive paper. and finally the same but with soft pencil. Last edited by Jesus; 08-17-2024 at 04:22 PM. |

And finally marked panel lines, rivets, details, etc... Once finished the model, I will apply a coat of Tamiya gloss clear like I did with engines and will look very realistic. I hope...
Thatīs all by now. |

I'm not familiar with the original Skyline model though, the rear stair is your original? It looks nice! and I'm looking forward to seeing your modifications on the nose as well.

Yes, it is. But I still have to test it to the tail cones after cutting the entrance.
