Very nice. I love these obscure topics.
One thing that surprises me is the absence of the US Navy patrol blimps. Yours will be the first! Looking forward to your investigation. |

A little bit off topic, but very relevant
The main antagonist to the Americas coasts came from the German U-Boats, and very few Italians. By the end of 1942, more than 300 ships were lost due to submarine attacks. Here it is a simple build of the U-Boat Type VIIC by Bruno. Originally in 1/500 enlarged to 1/400.

Absolutely NOT Off Topic; it's enlisted No. 32 in the models list involved into this thread and yes indeed it's a Scissors and Planes kit! Thanks Pablo for post this agressor of the Americas.

The other submarine that marauded the waters of the Caribbean and the Western Atlantic was the Type IX. Let me present a relic of paper modeling, originally published in 1956 by Wilhelmshaven Modellbaubogen, almost 70 years ago! This Type IX, originally at 1/250, is relatively simple for that scale, but scales down really nicely to 1/400. I think it can withstand more reductions. The most complicated thing was the railings of the bridge, but with patience and a steady hand, can be done with strips of paper. The Costal Command B-24 Liberator is a boxy also originally in 1/250 by PRmodels, also scaled down to 1/400. Hopefully soon, I will replace it with Bruno’s Martin PBM Mariner.

This kit has my same age! Very well sub build my friend at your usual 1/400 scale. What I don't know is whether Italian submarines also sailed in the Caribbean Sea and the US East Coast.

While researching the color schemes used by the Sixth Air Force in the Panama Canal Zone and the Caribbean I came across this book which I have already ordered on Amazon and will arrive within a week. It will dispel many doubts about the Sixth Air Force often referred to as the "Forgotten Air Force"
With its classic aircraft, the Sixth Air Force defended the vital Panama Canal and its approaches; as well as the supply of Oil from the deposits in Venezuela and the Bauxite mines of Surinam equally important for their mineral necessary to manufacture Aluminum. The next model to be built will be the Curtiss P-36 Hawk. Greetings to all!!! José Antonio Rodríguez aka Proudly Tigertony100. |

Looking forward to future contributions to this thread José.
I did a series of P-39 repaints a while back and still have the base template with all landing gear and other mods. Want me to try a Panama Airacobra to add here?
