Mig-21 and Nieuport 11 Dual Build (1/33rd)
All,
Started these on my vacation. A hand-drawn GPM Mig-21 (not to be confused with Ricardos...don't even look at mine) and a repaint of a Marek Nieuport. Just having fun making two completely different machines and trying to do a New Year's resolution of building a few things I've never touched before. As I'm not a jet person, it's been quite and education putting the Mig Lawn Darn together. I got parts upside down and back to front several times! Keeps me on my toes. Just a couple of starter pics. The Mig fuselage has gone together pretty well and I've only just started the Nieuport's interior. More soon! Dan |

The MiG-21 looks excellent so far, but as you might imagine, I am really looking forward to seeing the Nieuport Bébé.

Thanks, Don. You'll like this update!
I added the seat, made the lap belts complete with metal clasps and made my 3-D rigged cage rather than the flat paper glued to the inner skins. I like it this way. Rigging is EZ-line. More to come. Stick, pedals, aileron tubes etc. But looking like a WWI front office. Dan |

Thanks, Don. Here is a bit more on both!
Mig: I got the instrument panel and black visor installed. Next will be the turtle deck and fin so the model will stop rolling around! I already had a slight disaster since it rolled off my table and headed straight down due to the nose weight I have in that green cone on the nose. Smashed the tip and broke the former! I got it pretty nice again but... The Nieuport interior continues apace. I got the aileron tubes added, the joy stick and rudder pedals along with control lines. I still need to add the throttle quadrant on the left side and I think it'll be ready to move on. I also checked around and there shouldn't be any tubular steel in the fuselage except for the one vertical part I kept the blue/grey color. I repainted the other to look more like wood. It'll pass once all enclosed. Going well! Dan |

Some more done. Man, the two 1/33rd fuselages sure look funny together!

I don't think they look funny. I think it gives an excellent view of the size difference in generations of aircraft development. That's why I like building constant scale.

Awesome! The Mig, looks good, but I prefer the WWI era kits

Agreed, Ray. That is a fun way to look at one's models. Cool to see how things evolved and changed. I wonder what the WWI fellows thought of F-4s or Sabers etc. Hope you are having a nice Christmas time! Dan |

Thanks for looking! I do find myself working on the Nieuport and I can't wait to see it completed. But then I work on the Mig and I feel the same way! I guess I'll never be that good at the super stream-lined jets, though. More soon...Dan |
