Quote:
One of the biggest drawbacks to paper models... Any moving parts outside of a simple hinge (i.e. flaps) are pretty much impossible to implement because of how easily paper fractures under stress. No doubt this would have worked on a plastic model but there's far too much to risk in a paper medium for an even slightly complex mechanism like this to be practical.

Anything that is actuating on a model will not last. Canopies, landing gears, flaps, control surfaces, doors...... All better be in a fixed position.
My opinion based on years of building models in paper and plastic. Isaac

Fuselage joined
The only location suitable for butt joining is at the air intake section behind the cockpit tub.
However, I always re enforce it with wood sticks to join the front and back of the fuselage. Good match. Isaac

Vertical fin
Here is the structure of the vertical fin.
and installed. Notice that there is a small intake at the fron of the fin extention on top. It is used for cooling the main engine. Other planes have a similar scoop ( like the Soviet Su-22 and the Israeli Kfir ). Isaac

Wings
This plane has really small stubby wings ( sort of like the F-104 Starfighter ). The reason is that it only needs wings for high speed sine take off and landings are done using the lift jets and down vectoring main engine nozzles ). Also, since this was a primarily ship borne plane, short wings eliminates the folding common to many carrier planes.
My only addition to the structure was to add a wood spar that was positioned and using CA glue to hold the structure in place. The wings will be slipped on later Wings on Upper fillet lower fillet Isaac

Nice work on the wings. The camo looks like it is aligning pretty good.
