Unhappy Engine nose inlet splitter

This is the absolute disaster of a design. I really don't understand why the parts do not fit.

But here is my attempt:

I did add a rounded piece of wood to shape the splitter

You're doing a great job, especially with what you have to work with. The La-15 nose needs a complete re-design, well beyond my skill set.

Exclamation Fuselage sections

Here are the main components of the fuselage.

Still needing internal work.

Exclamation Center section

The center section houses the main landing gear bays.4

However, there is no internal support for the struts.

I added pieces of wood floors.

NOse and center sections

At this point I joined the two sections.

The cockpit tub was also inserted prior to joining.

For a simple rounded cross sections, I had some difficulties joining. I think the design diameter of the sections was not exact.

The fuselage looks great, Isaac. I like your use of wood to strengthen parts. I'm assuming that you added weight to the nose, so that you don't have a tail dragger?

Every time I'm building Mig with air intake like this I'm running into problems. That split in the middle is a source of them because either parts provided are too large or too small. They are never right or maybe I'm missing something. Some new models are made with incredibly elaborate (read-many small parts) air intakes that look great when build but those are way beyond my skill level.

Karol

I agree that the Mig-15 and 17 intake splitter is a complicated geometry. But the lavochkin inlet splitter is a straight piece and yet the model designer still managed to screw it up.

Oh well.

Vertical fin

It is nice to have a separate rudder.
