Well, story is wery interesting. Yugoslavs constructors Ilic Ljubomir, Kosta Sivcev and Slobidan Zrnic on about late 1930s about 1938. start new project after theirs first project IK2 with gallwings. Their are worked on new project with Hispanosuisa engine in free time after work in AF Command in technical department. Its fighter was a bitt slower than spitfire and Me 109 but with less turn radius. Pilots who piloted that fighter made special tactics against germans Me 109. Despite of only 12 prodused aircraft and 20 witch was in factory in time of war outbreak in Yugoslavia on 06. April 1941. After wwII same constructor team designed on 1949. fighter plane S-49 with the same wing as IK3 but with Soviet engine V105pf.

Very nice work. It looks similar to the Hawker Hurricane.

Very nice model. Cockpit is very impressive.
Someone long ago joked that IK-3 was a result of Hurricane and MS-406 having a night out and it was meant as a compliment. Earlier versions had upper wing much like PZL P-11/24 had . Vogue of times I guess. Today's designs aren't really that different either. |
