1/144 and IPMS Region 6 Contest

Some good news for the paper model community. Last Saturday, the IPMS Region 6 convention and contest were held in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Being an IPMS contest, paper models had their own category. The judges were kind enough to overlook my mistakes, and awarded two medals to my work.

The Marek Aviatek Berg was awarded gold

And the John Glessner/FG Mig-21 were awarded a silver

On the tail of that, there is a twice a month class that the Central Arkansas Scale Modelers put on over at the local Tech College.
The gentleman who got that started has asked me to come over and provide the modellers who attend a few classes on the construction of paper models.

We are making a difference ya'll. Keep it up!

WAY TO GO TEX!!

Congratulations on a well-deserved recognition. I have always maintained that paper/card subjects could hold their own among their plastic cousins.

This is exiting news!

Way to go Texman! Unfortunately I had to miss the party. I noticed a paper model in one of the contest coverage articles the latest issue of Scale Auto Entheusiast. At NNL Milwaukee 17 there was a picture of the free McLaren MP4/4 that had been displayed at the show. There's no mention that it was made of paper though. Maybe I should write them and point that out..

Congratulations Ray. Well deserved awards. I think that card is beginning to take off, and craftsmen like you are making it happen.

Congrats Ray. Those are well deserved medals.

Interesting that the award is bigger than the Berg that won it!

How did you get the different panels on the MiG-21 to look different? I have been trying to figure out a way to do that with a couple of models I want to build, but nothing seems to work.

If you did a thread on it, I must have missed it. If so, please point the way. If you haven't...how about a lesson or two?

No problem Ash, here's where it started

1/144 Mig-21 Beta/One Man Group Build

If you have more questions, just ask. I'm sure I left something out.

Victory lap around the ... workbench ... holding your craft knife and glue bottle high in those tiny, tiny fingers you must have. It's probably not often you can display the model on top of the award.

Well done, Ray!
