I ait'n ded

Hulloo All,

It's been a while since the last update, and I apologize.
I've had a dose of builder's block, a bad cold that lingered on and of course, the Holidays.
I've made some small progress, but not that much. On the 'bad cold' front, coming back to the build after a break, I have observed that I shouldn't be allowed to play with sharp things whilst feverish. With that in mind, and with the exception of one observation, I take full responsibility for the less than stellar quality of the build so far.
That observation;
The bulkheads with the cut-outs for the cockpit have very little in the way of margin. All of the formers so far seem to be a little oversize, and these are no exception. When trimmed down to fit, there is less than 1mm left at the corners, which isn't enough to keep them from breaking. Of course they break when fitting them to the skins. A fix for anyone following along would be to notch the cockpit lining skins and leave more meat in the corner of the cutout.

Back to the build, which shall hopefully proceed in a more orderly and regular fashion.

Thanks for the heads up about the formers. I see you got the nose to look good,which was my big concern. I'll be watching patiently.

One of my favorite birds, colorful and what I consider an elegant design of American Aviation. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Seeing her set there on the wire landing gear legs makes me think of the rubber version as modeled by Sterling Balsa Models. :DRick

Seeing reverse petal nose head, that is difficult to build and interesting part of airplane build, I remember I was building an airplane model.
I feel like falling prey to temptation of airplane build....

Neat little build you have going their Shrike . Not enough of the "Between the Wars" stuff out there. The nose came out looking real good. I will be following this build.

Thanks
Dennis

Nice choice for a build, Shrike. I love these planes. I've been off planes pretty much for a while now or would have tried it myself.

You are doing a great job with it. Butt fuselage joins are the bane of my building and I really respect the job you've done with it.
