Hello, Alcides!
Beautiful job, and a very attractive version of this plane! I'm not sure whether this idea might help but I sometimes use a small wire with the struts; if I can imbed it into two pieces to make up the strut the better. I leave a very small part of the wire extending out on both ends of the struts. I then put a pin hole in the place where the strut joins to the wing and the fuselage (or both wings in a bi-plane), and this helps to find the correct placement of the struts and gives the joint a bit more strength when glue is applied to the ends (including the short wire nib that fits into the model part). Sometimes adding the wing to the fuselage while the whole thing is inverted helps to give you a better visual look when putting the parts together; just fine tune the angles as the glue dries to eliminate any slants or misalignment of parts. This also works on the landing gear struts. You probably know all of this but thought I would mention using the small wire insert as it not only helps to align the parts but added to the gluing surface when assembling the whole affair. Looking forward to seeing your next build! Cheers! Jim |

I will often fold a piece of wire inside the struts as well. It takes a few more minutes to do, but it makes installing the wings so much easier! You did a great job on this one, by the way. . . Very nice!

Ditto on the wire in the struts- it makes locating the struts easier.
Also the best advice i can give is put the airplane on the wing, rather than the other way around. If you put the wing flat upside down and set teh fuselage on it, aligning and arranging the struts is much easier.

Hi Alcides,
excellent construction of WWI plane. Roman, has produced a substantial collection of high quality. Should I start thinking to build one myself. Orazio |

Nice and very clear build, Alcides! Roman's models are not easy as it seems at first glance. I appreciate what you did. Congratulations!

It's funny, at one momment I was working with the whole plane inverted ( fearing for the struts resistence ) and I tough that was crazy, now Jim, dfarrell and shrike told me this is the way.
Jim I didn't know about the "inverted" and the wire, thanks I'm going to user it in the next one. Dfarrell thanks and yes, some things takes more time but in the end you get a better result. Shrike Now I know the way is the opposite: the plane goes in the wing. Thanks!!! Bob thanks!!! Pahorace thanks and I agree Roman has a very nice collection of subjects, you've to try one. OldMan I know you understand you have a very pretty collection of Roman planes. Thanks. chicharrero Gracias hombre. Krzychu74 and Wyvern thanks for the kind words. |
