Thaipaperwork XP-59 Airacomet

I searched and did not find...a build thread on this model subject which holds a very unique marker in history as the very first jet fighter for the US but met an unfortunate contract cancellation as most aircraft do.

Anyhow, on to the photos which I am sure you all want to see.

Started off with the cockpit area and put it together rather easily.

Then I got to work on the forward fuselage and front wheel well.

After they were all ready, I glued them together and then dry fit the completed cockpit area.

That's all for tonight.

This is a really nice build and I was considering doing it myself but it lost out to my current project. Good work Looks really clean. I'm actually starting to really like the Nobi kits.

Hi Robert,
Edit; Oops, I posted a link to Nobi's XP 54, wrong plane, but also nice.
I have the XP 59 somewhere in my stash, I'll follow your build :D
BTW, did anybody hear from Nobi lately? I know his country is in quite a mess..

This is another build that I'm glad to see. You sure are off to a great start with the forward fuselage.

I also look forward to seeing Billy's P-59.

Noting the discussion in another thread of the possibility of an Airacuda model, wouldn't it be nice to see a line up of the Airacuda, Airabonita, and Airacomet?

Don

Next to an Airacobra?

Well, only if it were in pre-war natural aluminum finish - although I guess if the P-59 were in the line up, it would put us in an alternate universe.

Meanwhile, I will be happy to see the next phase of Robert's OD and gray P-59.

A very interesting project, Robert. I'm not so much for the X planes, but this looks promising.
