Wanted-beta builder for USS Monitor kit - Page 3

Avery, was wondering what you tought about something like this as a base for the monitor. If you like I can make up a base like this and send it to you in enclude with the model file. Let me know. Also, was going to look at the canopy for the top of the turret. I think I can lay one out fairly easy if you want to enclude it too. Looks from the pics I have found that there are 12 main support posts and a center post. There also is a ladder on the starboard side going up the turret, would you like one for this also?

Thanks CardStalker. I appreciate you kind words. I'm pretty new to the paper scene and I think that showed on this model...at no fault of the model...just my inexperience. Old eyes, fat fingers, and tiny cannons really kicked my butt. I'm glad that Avery chose me as one of the Beta-builders for this one.

Hey budy, you did a great job. Give yourself some credit. This thing has some real small parts and you made a very nice model. So kudo's to you my friend.

Great work on both models guys, really fantastic! I have some ideas for improvements, thanks so much for doing this. 8)

That sea base looks great, I'd love to have a file to include. I'll give you credit of course.

I was working on a canopy to include, but I lost the files and it was fairly crude.

Give me a few days for the base. I'll see what i can come up with for the canopy too. I'll send you the files when I get them done and you can have them to do what you want. No credit needed, just want to help out my friend. My best.

Ok, here is what I came up with for the base. I'll send it to you soon in PDF format, that way you can just add it to your existing file. Also we should put some kind of Copyright on the side opposite the USS Monitor text. Let me know what you want on it and I will add it to the layout.

Thanks Chris. I've spent more time on this then I was asked to do, but I CAN'T HELP MYSELF. I spent all Sunday doing overlays in CAD to make the base. Just thought it would be cool to put it on something. He was so kind to let me do the beta build I just wanted to give something back. Even though the water is not great detail it still looks good. It is actually a satellite photo I found of a real ship with somewhat the same dimensions. It worked out great I think. My best.

Ok, here are the parts that I came up with for the Canopy, Canon wall, Canopy poles, and the Turret ladder. Working on putting this together now. Will post pic when done.
