The Fighting Lady 1944 Docudrama

Just watched an excellent docudrama called The Fighting Lady about actions of a USN Carrier in the South Pacific in 1943.
Not revealed in the film, the anonymous Aircraft Carrier is actually the USS Yorktown (CV-10).

Made in 1944 by the US Navy and 20th century Fox, its a dramatic styled documentary (billed as a NewsDrama)
made from actual footage aboard a carrier on and aerial combat footage taken at the same time.
All shot in 16mm full colour!

IMDB says it was released in 1945 The Fighting Lady (1944) - IMDb

Its only 60 minutes long, but it feels much longer.
Documentaries can sometimes get a bit drawn out, but I found this thoroughly engaging from beginning to end.

Because its all real footage, its quite powerful...featuring real aerial combat, and the dangers of carrier deck activities.
I even found myself tearing up at the end when the film puts faces and names to some of the crew that lost their lives there.

Wikipedia has a full page on this film: The Fighting Lady - Wikipedia
You can even watch the film there (on Wikipedia) although its a fairly low quality version (only 240p).

I'm under the belief that the film was digitized and available for public redistribution and viewing.
Its also available for free download at the Internet Archive.
I was given a decent 1080p HD digital copy of the film (MP4 format, plays through most players).
Let me know if you want a copy, I can point you to it. (its a 1.1gb download)

I don't know how common or well known this film is...
maybe those that are interested have already seen it, maybe not?
Am I just new to it?

I have not seen the film. Had to laugh at the small aircraft machine guns and huge flight deck shown in the movie poster. I will have to track down the film and give it a view. Thanks for the find.

The director of the film Was a very famous photographer Edward Steichen and the film won an Oscar being the best documentary film in 1945. More on Steichen.
