Good idea, thanks, I'll do that.

Just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions on what books you mentioned on 3D card design techniques.

I downloaded Fundamentals of Card Model Design
and bought a copy of
World War I Card Model Design a Step by Step Guide.

I've started looking through both of them and they each have some really useful information. Never having done any 3D design work of any kind, it is amazing that we can download for free or buy for very reasonable prices the models that we can buy!!

Thanks to the designers, marketers and all others that provide me with hours of entertainment and just a little frustration;-)

I've got a copy of this design book and it has a lot of good info. The only problem I found with it was that the instructions listed for CorelDraw don't mesh up with my version.

Thanks for the info on Corel. It's not an issue for me one way or the other because I'm interested in just learning how designers go through the whole process. I have too many other irons in the fire to get into designing myself.

But I'm sure your comments might be of great use to others that are more daring than me and actually want to try their hand at design.

I've already come to realize how much work is involved in designing even a simple model. My hat is off to anyone that designs and releases a model for others to build. Especially the ones that do it for no or little cost.......

thanks again,
SFX

there's a thread on the forums by a modeler who used Roman's techniques with Sketchup as opposed to Rhino. You might review it; it does show that the principles Roman uses can translate to other software packages with some effort.

Card Modelling Book on WWI AC

Book World War I Card Model Design a Step by Step Guide $35.00
At this link,

I've never considered designing my own card models and I'm not sure I want to. However I'm always interested in learning more about things that interest me.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance on the subject and the author. Has anyone seen, bought, used this book? Is it an actual book or is it an ebook? What are your thoughts on the quality of the work etc?

For $35 I'm a bit reluctant to spend the money, in fact I'm real reluctant to spent that much on something I've never seen.

Any comments would be welcome.

thanks,
Like Swampfox, I am curious about this publication too. It would be great to see some of the "insider" techniques for designing models, especially since WWI planes are very daunting to even think about building, let alone designing. Thanks from another "Newbie" to the hobby. Ric
