Why is Ships/Boats not in that list???!!!!

It is my fault.

I'm sorry Dave. When I copied the categories from the "Sub-Forums : Model Builds" page I didn't realize I didn't copy the Ships and Railroad categories.

My apologies to you and to the ship builders, as well as the railroad builders. It is a grave mistake I made.

Not a lot of interest or feedback so far
...but understandable, with all the crap around here just lately I think a few people have decided to take a break,
and with the Holiday season upon us many of our members aren't even here.

So, thats okay...I won't take it personally! lol

My Daughter was down to see me over Xmas, and she always catches up on my latest Modeling News...
she really liked the Calendar idea and made a great suggestion.

I presented a layout idea to her, she agreed and so, I am running with it!
I won't tell you too much more just now, I'll leave it as a surprise creation.

Anyway, I have received a couple of model candidate suggestions...I appreciate them!
I have also started to collect some photos...basically if i see a model or photo that suits my idea, I will be calling on the modeller to help me out with more photos.
This doesn't guaranty that I will be using their model or photos mind you.

I am still hoping for a couple of volunteers...some help in a couple of areas.
And in that regard, I promise you written credit within the calendar for your involvement.

I need two volunteers to produce:

1. a collection of "important dates" ...a list of dates to include in the calendar month/days blocks.
eg most calendars have days marked as important holidays and major religious days
...I don't want to get too carried away and fill the entire calendar with this stuff, but i guess a few "important" dates are necessary.
Any fun Paper Modeleing related dates are also a consideration.
Since some "Holidays" vary country to country, I would appreciate a national designation with those dates.

2.
a photo collection of the top 50 impressive models...I want to spread some smaller model photos in and around the calendar, separate from the main Month photos.
Choose your favorite or most important model photos from this site...high quality is good, but they don't need to be huge photos since they will be reproduced fairly small.
A clear image is a good idea...no cluttered backgrounds, make sure the subject is clearly visible aginst the background.

...and make sure to include, with each submission, the members name or handle and a name for the model.

Any takers?

More suggestions? keep 'em coming!

I have done this in the past and it usually proves quite popular. I never got very fancy though. Just a good pic at the top of the days I will see what I can dig up for photo suggestions!

For the smaller photos on special days, you are welcome and clear to use any one of mine. Looking forward to your calendar.

Well, I'm working feverishly on this Calendar,
with hopes of completing it well before the end of January!

As I stated earlier, the Calendar will include January 2012,
making it a 13 month calendar...
to make up for the late publication and the fact that January 2011 will be the "Cover Image"*
*I'm doing up a papermodelers.com layout for the cover.

I am still hoping for a couple of volunteers?
I need that list of "important" dates to fill in the calendar days.

Anyone willing to help me out with that?
I'm thinking major Holidays and International Days of importance
as well as some Paper Modeling related dates if there are any?

I am also still hoping for a few more suggestions of filler photos.
If any one person wants to collect a few model photos?

I am filling all all unused blocks on the Monthly Calendars with model photos.
Each image will not be very large, so I'm being careful about the visibility within the image,
but I am also including the basic details about each image.
(Title, Scale and Builder ID)

I have a few, but I still need at least 28 more random/various model photos.
So, even just a few suggestions of worthy builds?

Throughout the calendar I am crediting builders using their PM "handle".
Since this is a PM Calendar I thought it made sense to use PM handles.
Makes it easier for anyone to search out the builder's threads and images here.
It also saves me trying to get permissions to use real names,
which I assumed some might not like to give out?
So...I am keeping it simple and using the names you are all known by here at PM.

Hi Dave,

I volunteer to help with the dates.

I'll Pm Chris to see what/how to get in touch with the IPMS for their competition meets. Also who knows about the Papermodeling meets-such as Don and others go to?

Important dates? What are you wanting besides Holidays?

Since this is a worldwide forum, what Holidays to include? Boxing Day? Thanksgiving?

New Years is a given...

For sure want to include the Lunar Cycles, is this ok?

I'll work feverously to get this info to you ASAP, if you approve of me doing it.

Maybe a quick poll to see what others think which Holidays?

Best regards,
Mike Bauer

How about using photos of last years POTW.

January would be-any of the POTW for Jan 2010, etc.

will something like this work? Maybe next year when the time crunch isn't so bad, you could then take nominations of photos to use.

All the best in 2011!

you can use the micro builds in the current contest for the small frames and maybe the FG winners of each category for a few main pictures? I am gonna wrap up the voting tomorrow.... I have been slow as usual....
