Smile taking a break...

I'm going to take a break from card modeling for a while
decided to take up something from the past - plasic models
bought a couple of'em and now i wanna start building/painting to see if it still is as much fun as it used to be
what i have in store is following
1/96 Saturn V from Revell
1/20 Lotus -79 from Tamiya - to hopefully honour the great Swedish racing driver Ronnie Peterson (maybe with a diorama of some sort)
1/24 Ferrari F2005 from Revell
1/144 Discovery with boosters from Revell (bought 1991 at Kansas space museum)
couple of 1/72 Swedish air force models from the jet age - J-29, SK-60, J-35 and J-37 - still looking for J-32 + JAS-39
and finally from Airfix, 2 models of wallace and Gromit + 2 models of Shaun the sheep

i have noticed that due to the "training" of cutting straight and curved lines in paper models my hand is steadier when i paint small objects, and i hope to bring some experience of this back into paper modeling, i will also try to use my airbrush which i got a couple of months ago, it is to be powered by spraycans but if i do well i will invest in proper power for it

i will though not leave this site and will still be checking and commenting but i will not contribute for a while
see'ya around fellas

About the kits:
J-32 - Heller in 1/72
JAS-39 - Airfix and Revell in 1/72 (and also Academy and Italieri in 1/48)
Try this source for Gripen: Kingkit - Welcome Page
Used it many times, very good service and good source for old models.

That 1/96 Saturn V is a very cool model! I do plastic sometimes, too, and have a 1/100 DC-10 that I'm going to build in the original National Airlines colors. But I won't be starting for a few months because it's too cold to spray paint outside right now (though you wouldn't know that today).
Happy New Year,
Kurt

I just received (yesterday, in the mail, to be exact) the Polar Lights Robby the Robot (first version) in plastic!
I have wanted this kit for a while (being a HUGE Forbidden Planet and Robot fan)

Built the Polar Lights Robot B-9 a couple of years back.
Pretty easy kit and fun to paint.
One of my best builds! (attached)

I will never forget Plastic Kits...
but I would never ever never take a "break" from Paper Modelling!!
How can you be that heartless?!!

Any model with the word Lotus catches my eye. The only paper Lotus model I have is of the Europa, which is an amazing model. I've got a pretty big stash of plastic models, huge Puma helicopter, 1`/8th scale Jaguar (1 I've almost finished, the other brand new in the box), a huge B-17, Gull Wing Mercedes, Blackhawk, and a couple of others. I also have an original Renwahl Visible V-8 but it is new untouched from the '60s and I don't have the heart to build it. I may just get a newer one. I want to build one with my son to show him how engines work. Modeling is fun, no matter what medium. Have fun! Plastic models are going to get real expensive as oil goes up in price. I am getting tempted to hoard some of the more obscure ones that I want, you never know.
