"From the looks of the temperature, we can expect a few snowy days in February this winter."

That says it all...

How fantastic to have white snow especially around Christmas season. Falling snow on cedars is romantic. In Tokyo, where I live, we seldom have snow all through the winter. Last time I saw snow in Tokyo my wife said regretfully “Only two inches” staring at me. It’s an enigma still now why she said so… #$)%(#()

I'm in a blizzard right now. Supposed to get about 3 more inches, on top of the 9 we already had form 3 days ago. Oh, and the wind is blowing at 20 mph :D That just means lots of modeling time for me. I just finished one about 20 minutes ago!

Perspective

Yugi,

It could be that your wife finds the way that snow transforms the World is both magical and beautiful.

This point of view changes drastically if you must work in it...,

I am just glad to be sitting in clear bright warm sunshine...,

Rain tomorrow, though, with more brewing in the Gulf of Alaska for the rest of next week...,

Over the past week, my area, 30 miles east of the Cascade crest, got one inch, three inches and this morning so far, three more inches.

More is on the way, and we are under a Winter Storm Warning for up to a foot of new snow. Last three years total, maybe four inches. Gotta love the Pacific Northwest.

Unusually cold for Vancouver this time of year. Snow snarling traffic in places the other day. A small local river ferry couldn't run because of too much ice blocking it's path (first I've ever heard that happening in this area).

Much better weather than Whitehorse, Yukon where I used to hang my hat though. Up there you'd get what they call "ice fog" where the condensation would actually freeze and hang seemingly suspended in midair inside a low-lying cloud of subzero vapour. Sparkled eerily and almost looked like one of the cheesy special effects from the original Star Trek series...

I remember the "ice fog" very well when I was in Alaska.

During my first tour there, I was a "Combat Pacer" which meant we quick turned C-141 and C-5 head to and from Vietnam. One night with very thick ice fog, I was coming back from refueling a Starlifter on the far end of the parking area. I was driving along the active taxiway and could see a recently landed coming up the same taxiway, heading my way.

I figured I had plenty of time to make a turn ahead of me which led back to my dispatch office, so I wasn't concerned with the oncoming 141. But then I hit an area where the ice fog wasn't hanging, and the C-141 was suddenly less than 100 feet away from me. The only thing I could do was hit the snow bank on the right side and hope the wing tip clears us...and it just barely cleared. I watched the tip of the wing pass about a foot from my driver's side window and then glanced up at the cockpit, where the pilot was shaking his head.

When the Starlifter passed, I got back on the taxiway and made my way back to the office. The other member of my refueling team on that trip refused to ever ride with me again.

Ice fog when thick enough, can cause object close by to appear much further away. It should come with that outside rearview mirror warning. 8v)

Right now it is 75 degrees... light breeze... and a few clouds.
I miss the snow, the last time I saw some was when I was 7.

Willygoat, what model did you just finish?

Matthew,
If I could figure out a way to mail some snow to you I would. We've got plenty. I just wrapped up the FG P-51 Mustang. It's a pretty sweet little plane.:D
