Were you looking forward to watching the Thunderbirds perform this year?

I was....it's been since 2011 that we had a local airshow...2012 was a "skip" year for the Air Force bases here.

Well too bad! Effective April 1st, 2013...all show appearances cancelled!!

I was hoping, since the airshows here are only every two years now, that this year would be a great year to catch a local airshow without having to travel 3+ hours to see one. So far as I know the Blue Angels haven't cancelled their show schedule. So...we'll have to wait and see if the local AF base will still allow all the other civilian acts to still perform an airshow on the base...but I have a feeling that the entire show will be cancelled. :(

Hopefully once the children in Washington are done with their temper tantrums, things will go back to normal.

But how do the Angels keep flying then?

Wouldn't budget cuts and lack of government funding affect the Navy too?
So, how do they make up the difference and find the funds to keep flying?
Maybe the Thunderbirds and/or the USAF need to follow suit?

Dave, I don't know how the Blue Angels will keep flying...or if they will. You never know, they may announce soon and follow suit with the Thunderbirds. :(

I did check their website before posting and didn't see an announcement from them yet.

The Blues are grounded too! But Obama can take a golf trip with Tiger Woods on the tax payers dime and that's OK....I'm sick of the blame game this administration plays....this whole sequestration crap was Obama's idea...the first president to HATE America......what the hell were the American people thinking voting for him....Richard

Was there any mention of how long they were grounded? Is it the rest of the year?

As upset as any aviation enthusiast will be (as I am) regarding the cancellation of the military demo teams from this year's airshow season, please keep the political talk out of this thread and out of the forum.

We WERE supposed to have the Blue Angels here for a show........... was going to take my Grand daughter to see them............. oh well..... that stinks!
