That sounds awesome. What a great idea. Beats the heck out of shipping containers.

Nice, and at 390 square feet it is larger than some of the condos in my neighborhood and hundreds of thousands of dollars cheaper.

Wasn't the Monsanto House of the Future at Disneyland in the late 50's-early 60's made of resin coated paper?

Actually, the Monsanto House of the Future was constructed from p*****c and from what I recall proved impractical to live in due to condensation issues, etc.

Thanks for the link. I was totally fascinated by that exhibit when I was a kid. Love the comment about the new "revolutionary microwave".

I read an internet article about a man out west who builds houses from "papercrete", a conglomerate of ground paper and some sort of waterproofing agent. I can't recall the man's name, but it looks like an affordable type of housing for low-income people.
People underestimate the construction possibilities of paper. I recall seeing, back in the late 1960's, a magazine advertisement from a paperboard manufacturer, showing a color photograph of a small bridge made from corrugated cardboard. Resting safely on the bridge was a full-size American pickup truck. My deranged little mind is contemplating a 1-to-1 scale model of an automobile, complete with pedal propulsion. |
