Very sad day today

Today is a very sad day for my wife and I as we have to have our dog Bob put down and just finished laying him to rest. His kidneys failed and rather than let him suffer in pain, we did the only thing we could for him. He was a Corgy/Terrier mix and our two Chihuahuas miss him too. This was the hardest decision I've ever had to make and it breaks my heart. Even though I know he had a good 15 years with us, the loss is eased only by the peace in his eyes as he went. We stayed in the room and continued to shower him with love and atterntion during the process.

Sorry for your loss.

When I was 19, we had to have the Heinz 57 Terrier I grew up with (literally) put down. I still remember it clearly.

I hope this bring some comfort: A Dog's Last Will and Testament

We do love our furry companions.

And it doesn't matter that we know they are older than they ever should have gotten. We invite these lovely little fur balls into our lives and they bring joy into ours. Lost my cat two months shy of 20 years old. There is no way she should have lived that long, but it still hurts. Take time to grieve. Wishing you happy memories. I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear your loss :( I cannot say anything that wasn't covered by that dog's will and Vermin King's statement but I can lend my sympathies.

I have pet rats which only live 2 to 3 years. Their footprint is far larger than their tiny bodies but I couldn't imagine life without em :D

Sorry to hear that. I know it still brings a tear to my eye when I think of my old DudeKat that I had to have put down over 15 years ago. He was with me through 4 moves, 2 states and was around longer then any of the girlfriends or even the ex-wife.

Sorry to hear this news. I too had to put my dog down last fall. It's hard to let go, but you did the right thing and ended his pain.

Sorry for your loss. It is a sad day when you have to put down a faithful friend that has provided companionship for many years.

My avatar shows me and my 136 Lb Rottweiler, Benson.
In spite of being a Rottweiler, he was a very friendly and loving dog.
I had to have him put down four years ago due to congestive heart failure.
It was a sad day and I still miss him.

You have my sympathy.
You did the most humane thing that you could do under the circumstances.
