lol for those watching this, I'll keep posting reports...

I am messaging with Hymak.
I am now certain that he wanted only to share the models with fellow Russian fans.

He is not understanding (through translated communications) that I want people
to go to my website to download the models.
He feels he has put a lot of effort into making sure my name and authorship is still
in place on the model files,
and he says it is a rule of the website that personal (website) links are not posted.
That is why he has taken my files, uploaded them to a new filehost,
and then shared those links.

I am attempting to apologize for calling him a "pirate"
and ask him to share the models by way of only linking to my website
but I can't seem to get that translated message across.

I do hope that some of our Russian-speaking members will step up and help out on the translation

Wow...

I get the "trying to help" vibe too. However, at the very least he should have contacted you first.

Here's hoping proper resolution can be achieved.

He may be thinking that by posting your models to the Russian site, (making sure to include a banner with directions to cutandfold), that you will get visitors to your site from Russia that you wouldn't otherwise get. In that way, he believes he is helping you. Hey, he may be right, who knows? I don't know nuthin' 'bout websites - do you know from where on the planet your hits are coming from? If the Russian hits have gone up, his posting of your models may be the reason.

Yup, thats what I am thinking.

But he just doesn't get the point of sending people to the site first
and letting them download the models from there.

And I can't seem to explain to him the importance of that fact to me.

I make and share the Koolwheelz models for free...but with a side purpose.
I get you to come to my site and look around and see other pretty things.

And, I like being able to track the downloads.
I can monitor what files, how many, and general regions.

In the end, I asked myself, so what if he fixes all the posts, takes out the file links,
and adds a redirect to my website...do I even want to be on that Russian pirate site?

Airdave :-)

If you don't mind me saying, on first reading that (weirdly translated) message I got the impression that he's somewhat p****d that you think him a pirate, as he's giving your work coverage in Russia; further, that he doesn't want paying for his hard work in promoting it. He thinks you're cool, because you're the designer and not a 'pirate hunter'. Can't figure what 'vykladyvayt' is, but the gist seems to be that he would've paid for your work only it was free anyway (not chargeable)

I'll leave it at that, because this is a touchy subject; I hope you get things sorted with the guy as regards a link and nothing more, but my gut instinct is I wouldn't bet on it.... Oh, p.s., try Serbian for a translation; I found some of those words in Serbian text but my translator resolutely refused to do it's job.

I got most of the same, once I figured out the translations.

Aren't we supposed to have a universal translator by now?
They got one on the Enterprise!

He is not understanding me very well
and the last thing I got from him is that the models will be removed from that site
and the Russian modelers will be sad not to have access to my models.

I'll wait to see if the files disappear...or not.

He seems to have claimed that links to other websites are not allowed on that Russian site. Links - no, pirated models - yes.

You could always leave a hint in a post there that folks should check out Dave's Card Creations without leaving a url. Some of them might do a web search for "Dave's Card Creations" and find your website that way, depending on which search engine they use. A Google search for that term lists your cutandfold site first.
