Matthew, being a spoilsport; especially after I saw them at Santa Monica Civic in 1972. Yeow!

I worked for a local Cessna dealer from '79 to '83 and got to fly several Cessna types
152
172
182
182RG(very briefly-but what an airplane!)
I also got to fly a J-3 Cub for a few touch-and-go's and got to ride in a Stearman N2S

okay okay...

I have an hour in a 172
and about 2 hours in an Ultralight.

But I have over six hours with Pink Floyd
(three concerts, Momentary Lapse Tour)

...and one of those shows involved crashing an airplane into the stage.

Once I started traveling for work, I sold my Grumman Cheetah. That was a fun plane and more enjoyable than the Piper Cherokees or Cessna's I flew before.

Now, I fly in the back of commercial jets or occasional crazy flying in the Flight simulator FS X.

I will pick up real flying when I settle down for reasonable time.

For those of you that are not flying due to medical reasons, you can do so under the FAA Sports category ( assuming your condition is not debilitating ). You only need a valid driver license and it is limited to a two seater and engine of less than 114 hp or so If I remember. A Piper cub falls into that category or even a C-150 ?

Sure does in my "log book". As long as you were able to walk away from the landing, with or with-out assistance.

Lot's of hours in the air professionally, but have flown the little Cessna 152 and 172 as well as a Piper Cherokee. Very non-current these days.

My Grandfather was an experimental test pilot for Boeing, hired by Eddie Allen. So he had most of the grandkids flying early. I started at age 9, in a Boeing glider club Let L-13, then Cessnas (150s & 172s). I had a contract with the Army as a 93B (Aeroscout Observer, OH-58 co-pilot) until the seated height limit was dropped 5cm, which excluded me. I resigned as 13F hoping to reclassify, but alas, that was not to happen. I did call in A-10s for CAS, which was awesome. I did get to ride in Liberty Belle a few years ago. Now I teach people how to build airplanes. I would love to fly again, but that is a rich persons hobby. As a substitute, I drive a Mustang GT convertible.
