Happy Independence Day from France, La Fayette's homeland.

From the La Fayette's homeland, I wish the US members of this forum a happy Independence Day. God bless America (and the civilized nations).

In the county across the Missouri River from my little burg is
Quote:
Fayette was made county seat in 1823. It was named for Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, who at the time was soon expected to pay a visit to the U.S. from France.[7]
The original Town of Fayette, named after the illustrious French compatriot, General Lafayette, was first settled by Hiram Fugate and Hickerson Burnham, who each donated 25 acres of land for the location of the county seat.

Is it close to the Niagara Falls ? I remember an old fort between Buffalo and N.F. on the road I used when driving from Toronto Airport to Rochester.

Well now, it seems us Brits are soon to get our own Independance Day. If and when our politicians get there fingers out that is. Us prolls 'ave been an' gorn an' voted fer a Brexit job from Europe, but the posh boys are all chickening out of signing the papers. Seems we can't actually start the two year long procedure until someone signs Article 50, but they're all shuvvin' up their brollies and whingin' "Not me mate". Bunch a' wallies ... bring back Churchill ... 'e'd 'ave signed it no bovva.

Dear PICARDIE:
Technically OFN is north of Niagara Falls in Youngstown New York, I wondered Very Briefly why some one from France would go to Rochester then I looked at your user CP and you worked for Eastman Kodak Co. world headquarters in Rochester. OFN first founded by France then British then American with some odd back and forth the oldest US military post in Continues occupation to present day with current Coast Guard station.
Thanks,
Miles
