I just read that Photobucket may have lost his images and that the blog may close down. PAPERMAU: Photobucket Is Down And Papermau Lost Almost All Images...

I just wanted to make a post about how much I appreciate all that he has done for the hobby, and hope that you all will join in encouraging him to keep going. This has to be very frustrating.

I don't know if he can set up the old blog as an archive and start new, or if he would even have the desire, but I would really miss him and his blog if he decides to close shop.

Looks like it's a general problem in Photobucket. I can't access my account, and there's a message that says: " Hang In There! We're down for maintenance, but we'll be back shortly."

Having patience and waiting for the best is a good idea for the time being for us PB users

Their cover slide gif says "Hang in there, we're down for maintenance". I've seen this a few times lately, but they've always come back OK after an hour or so ... but they have been down for 24hrs this time, so fingers crossed it's nothing too serious. All the pictures I've ever posted on PM are hosted on P.Bucket.

Could it be they are living dangerously and updating to Win 10 ? Very risky for a big server unit as yet. I've upgraded three of my five PCs so far without too much trouble, but MS updates are still uninstalling some of the apps they would prefer us not to use ... The boogers have managed to uninstall Adblock plus and CCleaner three times now, and they don't seem to like anything from 10bit software.

I just had a flick through some other threads, and my free stored pictures are still showing. So P.Bucket servers must still be up and running. I wonder why Mauther's Paid for storage isn't functioning? Fingers crossed for ya Mauther.

I'd noticed all afternoon on the Spotlight Models board (model cars) that everyone was saying that Photobucket wasn't working.

Hey I pay extra for my photobucket account, it better not disappear!

But this makes sense...I have had a number of upload problems in the last few days and weeks.

I hope Mauther doesn't stop his blog. He does so very much for the hobby, I appreciate his work enormously!

Yep! Everything seems to work OK on my account now, and all the missing images are back on the Papermau blog. He hasn't removed the comments about the outage yet though, so I guess he hasn't checked it out yet.

If I were him, I would take the soonest opportunity to back up all his stored images elsewhere. Preferably offline on a NAS, or even just an extra HDD in his PC. Photo-Bucket is a very useful service that I use a lot, but as he's just found out, storing important files anywhere in just one place is not a good idea.
