In the early 1960's, I was stationed in the Army at Edgewood Arsenal.
We were scheduled for a barracks inspection.
The soldiers were required to leave their wall lockers open and leave for their duty stations.
I was the designated guard and after the inspection I would lock the lockers and leave.
There was an empty squad room with empty lockers and I left my field jacket and a copy of the Old Original Charlie in one of the empty lockers.
The inspecting officer and one of our company officers arrived and entered the empty squad room and opened the locker with my field jacket and the copy of the Old Original Charlie.
I was not in the room but I could hear the inspecting officer ask, "Who does this belong to ?"
My company officer said, "I think that they belong to the guard."
Nothing was said to me.

Yo Gents,
I'm 64 and Pogo was one of my family's favorites. Thanks for the refresher on "Deck us all with Boston Charlie" I had forgotten some of the words.

Much Obliged

Around the 1970s there was an animated Pogo show for TV. But the characters' voices were not at all what I thought they should be. And the romance between Pogo and Ma'amselle Hepsibah was drivel compared with the strip's usual political/social satire. It would surprise me a lot if there were any other animation attempts.

I remember Pogo from somewhere when I was little. This would have been in Kenya of all places.......!

Another of the ancient family favourites used to be Felix the Cat - in the early "blocky " version!

I was born in 1963, and Pogo was in the newspaper comics when I was a kid (early 1970's). Maybe they were repeats, like Peanuts is now.

All of this Pogo talk reminded me of some hako Pogo characters offered in 2006 by Telman with a notation stating the original template is by Masamune Washington.

My late father was a big fan of Pogo. A few years ago I managed to find him some hardbound books with suposedly all of the Pogo strips.

I bought and read the Toronto Sun newspaper every day for about 20 years from 1977 to the late 90s
...and read the Pogo comic strip in it!
So, its quite well known.
