fb used to limit image size, years ago.
same as youtube downgraded videos.
but as technology has improved, they now accommodate HD, 1080p video, high resolution images, etc

although, I firmly believe for most forum posts, an image should be resized down to 800x600 or so so that it stays within the confines of the forum windows
and is viewable in its entirety on most screens.

I didn't realize that the address link doesn't link back to your fb page!
thats a good thing.
It also means a viewer can't go looking through the album its from.
Sometimes I upload multiple photos, only revealing one at a time.

...
one thing i do not like though...
when you upload an image or images to facebook, your actions are announced on your timeline.
and all your followers and friends are notified of it.
even if you remove the announcement from your timeline, the message still goes out
and followers get direct access to those photos.

Those of you affected, remember there are other free alternatives available out there - but if you don't fancy free accounts anymore then sign up for a VPS or web hosting account (incidentally for a fraction of the Photobucket cost).

If you just want to store of then use the cloud services. For example 1TB on Google Drive costs around 100 USD a year..... And there are cheaper cloud storage options then that as well.

I use Google Drive a lot - for me it's convenient as I use lots of Google services, but there are plenty of other options

what you have to do is right-click the image and
copy image address
then come here, click the image icon and paste in the address.

Are you linking from a private album?
Image doesn't show.

I'm testing by copying "image location" of one of my public photos...
If the Tower shows, then it works.

And now trying to hotlink an image from one of my "only friends" albums...

Ok... the second image shows for me. Meaning it isn't so private despite being in a supposedly "only friends" album.

my web hosting account gives me plenty for websites etc, but only 1gb of actual storage space.
So not much for a photo library.
And no interface for using the collection.
(Files are ftp)

...
Just another comment on the free service TinyPic.
It seems to be perfect for what I need.
very similar to photobucket.

and now I see why.
its owned by photobucket.
So, if this site is designed for 3rd party linking, then....?

Tinypic® is a fast, simple and reliable video and image hosting site that you can use to share your experiences.
There is no registration or log-in required, simply submit your picture or video.
That makes it the perfect site for linking to MySpace.com®, eBay®, Orkut scrapbooks, message boards, forums, blogs, journals, e-mail, IM, and other websites.
Best of all: it's FREE!
How it works is you upload your video or image and we provide you with a simple URL (e.g. Home - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting) that is guaranteed to be unique.
It will point to your, and only your, video or image.
You can then copy and paste the link that we provide to share your pictures on your favorite sites all without having to upload your image or video all over again. That's it.
Share the experience! Try it today!

TinyPic® owned and operated by Photobucket.com, a free Image and Video Hosting company.

What does facebook anti-malware programs have to do with that?
The reason you don't know is because of your own behavior.

Yep, been seeing their little 100% little icon in several other forums. Guess it shows where there used to be a linked to photo.

Hopefully their business plan soon takes them off the web. Black mail at its worst.

What a croc.....
