LFC Shandley Gates SVG file
An acquaintance of mine asked me to make a model of the Liverpool Football Club's Shandley gates. Since I had to make a vector file anyway, I thought I could share the .svg if anyone wanted it for whatever. The final image looks like this:

Looks interesting. That was an entertaining Merseyside derby this weekend.

Ha ha! I am not a follower of football, unfortunately. Here are some pics of the final piece though. It has little LED lights as a bonus!

Really superb modelling. Is the wrought iron gate printed on transparent film, or do you have your own laser, LOL.

Why, thank you, but most of the positive mass of this model is basically boxes. The iron and what looks like brass on the top part is actually laminated cardstock, six layers deep. I used the Devil's X-Acto knife, a Silhouette Cameo to cut those from the svg file.
I quit trying to do the same for the gates after about 4 or 5 attempts. Seems the scale was too fine to cut the negative spaces from the card. Not enough positive material to support the weight of the remaining bars. I eventually took a step further down the automated rabbit hole and used the svg file to print the gates on the Devil's sculpting tool, a 3d printer. Since this was a piece for someone besides myself, I had to just get it done. This actually worked out well, as I was able to get the details I needed to have it look a little more natural, without throwing out the work I had put into the top part. If I had to scale up, I would have to re do that as well. The 3d printing was not the last resort though. I had even gone so far as to buy some aluminum wire so I could make the gates if the print had also failed. Luckily it worked, and the guy is picking up his completed replica tomorrow.

Those lights look good on the gate. As far as the finishing of the model goes, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
You should do a search for Anfield and Goodison Park and see how close they are to each other. I wonder if any rumbles between Liverpool and Everton supporters ever happen in that green space that separates them.

I believe they are the Shankley Gates. And that green space is Stanley Park.
