Airplane to Europe 1957 identify help

This is a picture of the airplane we took when we flew to Europe in 1957. Can anyone identify the aircraft?
I think it is a DC-6B.

Hi;

This aircraft is a Lockheed Electra, which had a dismal career as in airliner, but went on to fame when developed into the PC Orion series of naval aircraft.

Neither photo is of an Electra, they both look like DC-6s to me.

The four bladed props, and pronounced hump of the piston engine nacelles makes me think DC-7. Don't know of any paper models but there could be some out there.

Hi All;

Ashevilleangler is most likely correct. The Electra was a slightly later design and would have had exhaust openings on the rear of the nacelles. The propeller tips would have been flat, rather than rounded. The DC-7 had the four blades and the nacelles had a pronounced hump. Neat livery at the time.

I'm with Curt, it looks like a DC-7. Too bad you couldn't get the tail number on the top of the vertical stabilizer.

DC-7 is looking good for the answer, but I am relying on Wikipedia
