He didn't insult all the journos, just the uninterested ones.
It's true though, journalism these days is nothing like it used to be. I was raised by an old-school journalist and was brought up learning all about journalistic integrity and those other things that are fading into obscurity, like spelling and grammar. The majority of todays journalists really don't hold a candle to those of a few decades ago. |

I'm tired of the "journalism ain't what it used to be" claims. Journalism is as good as, if not better, than it used to be. The "average newspaper guy" (and woman) of today is better-educated and more professional than even a couple of decades ago. What has muddied everything up are two-bit pundits hijacking the title "journalist," and consumers who either can't or won't recognize the difference between journalism and opinion. They just want their biases confirmed, so they tend to read/view/listen to the media outlets that do that. And if an article doesn't confirm their bias, then they consider the article to be biased, not themselves. Are there exceptions and times journalists screw up? Sure. Same with any profession. I can't tell you how many times I've dealt with documentary filmmakers and came away unwilling to be interviewed on camera by them because they demonstrated, one way or another, that they didn't know what they were talking about or I realized they were not after the truth and I didn't want to be anywhere near their project. But this thread is supposed to be about SpaceX and it is an issue I'm tired of talking about. |
