The alternative to printed models is digital models.

Sorry, I don't understand the question.

Or, you don't want to print yourself? (ie digital models)
you want to buy pre-printed kits?

If so, there are many outlets for pre-printed kits.

Please clarify what you want.
And the types/subject of models you are interested in.

I was wondering if you didn't have to print it yourself and could buy in flat packs.

Ah yes that's the sort of thing, thank you.
Any more for things like the lunar lander and science fiction, the lunar lander being my favourite.
I'm in the UK if that makes a difference.

Just stay away from ali-baba. ali-express, etsy....
many online sources hosting sellers who are selling pre-printed kits made using Uhu's Lunar Lander.

They are probably pirating other kits, but Uhu's is a common one.

These kits were never made available as pre-printed kits and the pirate versions are often very low quality and/or missing parts.

In fact, if you find something you wish to purchase, why not share it here first.
We can help you sort out the good, bad and ugly.

Since you are interested in Lunar Lander I put couple of links here:

Educraft - LM5 Apollo 11

UHU02 - LM7 Apollo 13

Educraft is 'flat pack' and UHU02 is downloadable in digital form from the link I put above.

Those two are the 'high end' landers. Now some food for thought: acqiuring a printer you get so much more options in your field of interest than there is published in 'flat pack' form. For instance in lander models. There must be at least 10 digital kits with diffefrent skill set required and level of detail. Real space stuff and sci-fi tend to be in digital form these days.
