What do you do if you want to dispose of stuff you've built?
Hi All,
Maybe an odd question. I've got several planes I've built over the years and frankly don't want to continue finding a place to display them (will be moving to smaller digs in the not too distant future). Storing them makes no sense (for what?). Sure I can just toss them into the bin, but that would just seem "wrong". If I knew some kids that would like to have them, that would be great. I don't care to make any $ off them. What has anyone done to solve this? Rick |

if you mount them on a display board and get or build a Plexiglas case to go over it, you can then donate it to your local children's library. Although if the library has an empty shelf in a display case you may not need the Plexiglas case.

I give some to the local USO. They can display them, or give them away. If you have a local flea market, rent a table and spend the day making models and give away the ones you already have built. Good opportunity to meet people and get new people interested in the hobby.

I've donated models to a local charity shop before now. They don't bring in a fortune for the shop, but every little helps.

*bragging mode on* A couple of my models are permanently on display in the national space museum. *bragging mode off*
But I also like to just give them away as little presents, when I have no room left. Most of them are just gathering dust on shelves in my hobby room where no one ever comes. All the birds I made for example, have gone to my mother's house and she enjoys looking at them every day. It also gives me the chance to maybe redo models in a better or different way in the future. And libraries indeed often are nice places to display some models more permanently |

I give mine away to kids in neighborhood or to dads so they can gift it to their kids.
I gave a whole bunch to printing shop owner where I print my models. Wiw-win because often he prints my models for free or on better quality printer. I gave him number of sites for free models so who knows, maybe I'll bring him to our side of The Force. |
