His kits helped me develop my interests in paper models. I never had the pleasure to meet him. He will be missed but he will continue live on through his work and kits and the fond memories people have of him.

Condolences to his son and family.
His work with paper models will stay forever.
One of my first models was his La-11.

I'm very, very sorry to hear this. My first contact to Emil was in the days of the »cardmodelers list« ... personally I first met Emil in 2000 when I visited him in Sofia. We talked a lot about paper model design and our different and/or similar approaches to card models. He visited me in 2002 and both we attented the 2002 Bremerhaven convention. We even achieved the publication of a Dornier Do 217 card model here in Germany in cooperation. I feel very sad about this loss – farewell Emil and we'll meet again some day...

I know I'm straying off topic but I feel like I have to tell this

When my group of friends and I found out about Lorenzo's death we felt a bucket of cold water, we were on a meet video call when we found out and we went from being in a funny moment to a sad moment while we were preparing the message of condolences for our Facebook group we started talking about the good things about Lorenzo and how it impacted our lives at that time I realized that I didn't talk much with him and I didn't ask him for help instead of feeling indifferent I felt bad because I would have liked to be helped for him or to know him better

I think many people felt the same as I did when Dr. Zarkov died.

Every time there is a loss in this hobby I remember Lorenzo and other people I met or did not get to know

I can draw a moral from what happened to me
Take advantage of all the moments you are with your family and friends, talk to them, ask them how their day was or ask them for help because you will never know when the last day they are in this world will be.

I discovered Emil Zarkov's paper models 20 years ago thanks to a weekly collection that came out in Spain.
I bought the first fascicles which were of the Curtiss P40 aircraft and it was a real discovery for me as in my country this hobby did not exist at all.
It was love at first sight. From this point on I became fond of building naval models until I took the next step which was to design them myself. Today I have designed more than 30 models, many of them published in publishers like Orlik or Pro-arte.
Thank you Emil for teaching me this beautiful hobby, my next design will be dedicated in your honour.

RIP

This must have been around 2003 ??? Interesting - the same year I was in contact with a spanish company named X-TASS. They purchased six rather simple dollhouse paper models from me ... maybe it was the same company?
