Google Ads on the Forum?

Every time I click on a thread, I get a banner of "Google Adsense" ads. I've tried turning it off without success. Is this a new feature of the forum? If not, any idea how I get rid of it?

If this is admin's way of providing income to keep the forum up and running, I can certainly put up with it.

Hi,

I installed an ad-blocker on my Firefox.
Disadvantage, searching in the forum does not work.
I have to do this in an other webbrowser.

Greetings

Wiwo

Interesting. I'm running Chrome, and an adblocker. I do not get the ads, and, the search function works fine.

Any one else?

Hello David,
Yes, our site facilitator (Jason) has allowed it to provide needed income to support the forum. We may be hearing from him sometime in the future about other ideas to generate support. Thanks for your understanding.

You shouldn't have that issue. I do Firefox with AdBlocker Ultimate with no issues

I'm using MS Edge. I installed AdGuard; ads gone, search still works.

Congratulations. Being a MS product, I figured it would have the most issues

I use chrome with DuckDuckGo and it works perfectly without an ad blocker.

It seems to take care of the ads on all sites.

It does not return the searches that Chrome or Edge did, in other words does not list the duplicates. the AD ones still show on top though. Need to filter through the results to get to where you want to go.

DuckDuckGo is for privacy, and it works on my Windows 10 64bit system.

I had to remove Edge from several spots in the system to get it to work though. There are plenty of ways to remove edge, just to need to make sure you go deep enough, then you can stop the upgrades as well.

Don't remember the search I did to remove edge, but once it was mostly gone, don't get all the crap I used too. No way can you remove it completely, just some of the power it wants to have so it can do changes to your results on searches and upgrades.

If you just tell windows 10 that google is your search engine, a second tab always brought up microsoft crap. Now DuckDuckGo is the only option for opening new tabs.

I really like DuckDuckGo!

The best part is, what I search at home does not show up as an ad at work. Used to look up different kinds of paper, allot of the ads would show up at work. Especially if reading my yahoo mail account, or gmail.

Mike
