If a steam train is a favored possibility, what engine would it be? Throw out a few that we can kook at

Guess it depends on how big of a project you want to tackle. If you want a really large project, then this:

Or you could do a Shay engine:

I don't have any examples of paper shay models to share though....

I was thinking a geared Shay could be interesting too. Might include worm gears, how to make those in paper I wonder?

I was gonna suggest a Southern Pacific Cab Forward. My second favorite steam loco

both of those trains look cool. the southern pacific looks like it as two sets of powered wheels. The shay, I've never seen a configuration like that in a steam train. Very unique.

That SP cab forward is articulated, saw it years ago in the Sacramento Railroad Museum.
