Thanks for sharing this link. Wonderful images, and the comments are interesting as well.

I think these kinds of rural houses are called akiya while the older ones with heavy post and beam construction are minka. I took a course on Japanese architecture a year or so ago, but my knowledge is very shallow.

In any event, I was glad (and a little sad) to see and read about these abandoned rural houses.
